Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Organic
Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Organic
Established in 1999, the Oromia Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union is the largest Fair Trade coffee producer in Ethiopia. Their goal is to export coffee directly to the specialty market, and their six varieties (Yirgacheffe, Sidamo, Limu, Lekemptl, Jima, & Harrar) are all grown in the southwestern rainforests by indigenous farmers. Oromia's coffee is heirloom, forest-grown, and 100% organic, with a proud history and unique flavors and aromas that are sure to please any palate. With approximately 70 containers produced annually and over 7,000 members who are Fair Trade certified, Oromia was awarded first place in the East African Fine Coffee Association cupping competition in 2005 for their unwashed coffee, with three members placing in the top ten.
